TACLOBAN CITY -- Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)

TACLOBAN CITY -- Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), considered as the strongest typhoon in the world this year, caused major damage in this city, the home of more than 200,000 people in central Philippines.
The typhoon hit land on November 8, 2013, with winds of 260 kilometers per hour. It triggered giant storm surges that flooded the city and other coastal areas in the Province of Leyte, leaving a wide swath of destruction.
